Photography and Data Protection
Our school is fully committed to upholding the principles of the Data Protection Act 2018 and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Safeguarding our children and promoting responsible practices is a priority we take extremely seriously.
While we understand and respect your right to take photographs or videos of your own children during school events, we kindly ask that you remain mindful of others. Often, these images may include other children whose circumstances mean it could be harmful or inappropriate for their images to be shared publicly.
Therefore, we respectfully request that you do not post images or videos containing other children on social media platforms. Any images or footage should be used for personal use only.
According to guidance from the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), if images are shared beyond personal use, such as on social media, the purpose of the photography changes. In such cases, you may be considered a Data Controller and could be subject to the same legal responsibilities and scrutiny as organisations under data protection law.
