World Nursery Rhyme Week (10th-14th November) is fast approaching, and we are delighted to confirm that Nursery and Reception will be taking part. The initiative, launched in 2013, promotes the importance of nursery rhymes in early childhood development and education with a particular focus on how nursery rhymes boost early language and literacy skills.
We have a number of activities planned throughout the week for example, learning rhymes with music and movement, craft activities, finding out about rhyming words.
Singing nursery rhymes is a wonderful activity you can also enjoy doing together at home. You can access all of the free resources at home by registering at www.worldnurseryrhymeweek.com
On Friday, 14th November we would like the children to bring in a small prop/item to help us guess and celebrate their favourite nursery rhyme that they enjoy singing at home, for example, they could bring in a star to represent Twinkle, Twinkle or a bus to represent The Wheels on the Bus.
We can’t wait to celebrate a wonderful week of rhyming!
